After traversing Danseys Pass and finding lunch in Ranfurly we had time for one more diversion – inspired by another fellow photographer – to St Bathans, an easy detour on the road to our destination Alexandra. The weather changed from wet and overcast to sunny and warm with the countryside looking like it hadn’t rained in a long while. A former gold mining town of the mid 1800’s, previously known as Dunstan Creek, it is now a one street tourist town with a remnant man made “blue” lake surrounded by quartz cliffs. Taylor explored the town with its many windows and reflections while Beresford took the Blue Lake walk.
