It seemed like a good idea to take a train from London down to the south east coast before heading back up to Canterbury. So we did. We stopped at Folkestone for a walk around and lunch but were not tempted to get the cameras out. We moved on to Dover and checked in to our B&B before heading out to explore its delights. The new pier gave great views back to the White Cliffs and Dover Castle and with a pending storm the clouds and light made for great photography. Dover itself was a somewhat dour town – with little sign the travellers to and from France pause to spend any money. The next day we took another train to Margate and walked the promenade and back before catching yet another on time train to Canterbury.
