There were no Hydrangeas here when we arrived in Whanganui 6 years ago. We brought a few in pots with us, planted them in the gardens and started taking cuttings to propagate them. Somewhere along the way we took cuttings from other Hydrangeas, bought a few more and before we knew it had about 70 plants growing in the ground with more in pots. We’ve developed a diverse collection now with blues, whites and reds, mopheads and  lace-caps and more. Photographing them is best when they are developing their colour. Maybe I’ll take more photos later in the season as their antique character develops.
