The weather was closing in as we retraced our path from Karamea back to Westport and then up the Buller River to Murchison where we overnighted before heading home via Nelson. The river suited the sombre weather and heralded an overnight storm which brought snow to the peaks and strong winds making the flight to Wellington alarmingly turbulent.
