Taylor and I spent two weeks north of Auckland in May with a couple of travelling companions. Northland has the reputation of being the winterless north of New Zealand. Unfortunately, that didn’t apply in 2023 as Northland suffered from the wettest year on record. We had mostly wet days but enough fine ones to enjoy our time. There are a number of highlights in the far north including Tane Mahuta, the Opononi Sand Dunes at the mouth of the Hokianga Harbour, Ninety Mile Beach, Te Paki Sand Dunes and Cape Reinga – we enjoyed them all.
